The question of where to live in Coronado can be answered with the right information. True, most people ask for the Hotel del Coronado, and for good reason. But if a larger, busy resort isn't for you, or if you want lower prices, you can find other options.
Book Hotel Del Coronado, Curio Collection By Hilton In Coronado
Keep in mind that during peak season, especially if you book at the last minute, all Coronado Island hotels will be priced at a premium—including the usually budget-friendly hotels. It is always best, especially if you need a family room, to book as far in advance as possible.

The hotel in San Diego that my readers book the most is the Hotel del Coronado, Curio Collection by Hilton. That's because it's our best full-service beach resort, and it's located on a beach that's considered one of the best in the United States.
There's a lot to know before booking and I've gone out of my way to explain the pros and cons of each building, especially given that they're in the midst of an exciting multi-year renovation (don't panic - folks book in and feel still good). The long list of activities includes everything from private evening barbecues to outdoor classes steps from the sand. The breakfast (free for two guests when you book the Virtuoso award through me) is excellent and the new sustainable fish restaurant Serea is just what the hotel needed. They have put in the effort to improve the dining experience and it has paid off. And the largest outdoor pool is newly renovated.
I have many repeat guests who stay here at least once a year. Many feel they get the full San Diego experience without leaving this Coronado beach spot. I can state that the best way to order it is with my Virtuoso facility, and if you think otherwise, let me know.
The Cabana Beachfront Terrace Fire Pit rooms are amazing. They have one king size bed and one queen sleeper sofa (great for families of four) or two queen beds (no sleeper sofa). But the outdoor patio is like an extension of your room and it has a fire pit! Parents use e.g. terrace to relax after the children have gone to sleep.
Victorian King Studio Sea View Suite has a view from the balcony (most have a balcony, but not all) across the resort to the sea. Although the living room is not completely separated from the bedroom, it is good to have extra seating (plus a sofa bed) and space. Families of six can fit into a Two Queen Victorian Studio Suite with two queen beds and a queen sleeper sofa.

The viewing area south of The Cabanas is also now open for booking. We're talking brand new rooms and floor-to-ceiling windows with ocean views that pay homage to the building's name. (Just be aware that the Shorehouse neighborhood, slated to open in 2022, is being built from the ground up on the south side of The Views, so that building is currently undergoing renovations.)
Room Tip: Do not book a room in The Cabanas or The Views without a view type as they offer an unbeatable view and location. The Victoria Building will close for renovations in September 2023.

Apartments For Rent In Coronado Ca
Accommodation, from one room to three bedrooms, is furnished as designer apartments. Some have a fully equipped kitchen.
Beach Village guests and local members have access to the seasonal Windsor Beach Club (open approximately from Memorial Day to Labor Day) and an elevated level of reception, reception and guest services.
Beach Village guests also have access to everything at the main Hotel del Coronado, but main resort guests do not have access to the Beach Village facilities. So it's less busy and more private in this neighborhood.
You can also book with Virtuoso amenities that include daily breakfast for two, a $100 hotel credit and more. For this you must send me your dates. Rooms start at $799/night in the low season (over $1199/night in the high season), but it helps to get a feel for the Hilton's prices before you contact me, as they can sometimes be almost double that.
Best Coronado Island Hotels
The villa rooms on the entry level have two queen-size beds and a double sleeper sofa. These are a good solution for families of five. I also encourage you to take a look at the cabins with outdoor tubs on the terrace.
The 2 bedroom Ocean Villa loft suite is also very popular for those looking for extra space. It is on two floors with a fully equipped designer kitchen and living rooms with beautiful views.
The amenities you can book with me at Beach Village at The Del are the same as Hotel del Coronado and usually cheaper than Hilton Honors rates, especially if you eat breakfast at the property. You must request a price as Beach Village cannot be booked online through Virtuoso.
If you're looking for a boutique hotel in Coronado with great service, consider the 17-room 1906 Lodge Coronado. You get great deals included in your room rate, from breakfast to wine and hors d'oeuvres to complimentary beach gear and shore excursions for use during your stay.

The location a block away from busy Orange Avenue means you're in the middle of great homes, so it's quieter. But then again, you're also less than two blocks from the Hotel del Coronado and the beach in front of it.
It's also a historic property, built in 1906 originally as a boarding school, so no two rooms are exactly alike. There isn't a restaurant, bar or gym on site, but there are plenty of options nearby. It's actually one of my favorite boutique hotels in San Diego.
Families will want to check out the Garden Double Queen Spa guest room, which sleeps five. The best room for couples is the Grand King Spa Room, which has an in-room spa bath.
Another question I get asked a lot is what I think about the Loews Coronado Bay Resort. What gives you pause before ordering is the location, which is about 4 miles south of the shops and restaurants of Orange Avenue. Here's what you need to know.
Best Western Plus Suites Hotel Coronado Island, San Diego
This Coronado Island hotel's goal is to do just that, so guests can experience the best of San Diego without leaving. They do this in part through the Flavor by Loews program, where they integrate locally caught seafood, locally brewed beer, distilled spirits and more into their menus. Some of the produce is actually grown on site in a lovely garden that guests can walk through or read a book in.
Silver Strand State Beach is a golf cart ride or about a 10 minute walk from the lobby. They have a seasonal beach stand with chairs, umbrellas and snacks. The beach is manned by lifeguards and is one of the best beaches in San Diego.
They run a free shuttle to Orange Avenue if you want to shop or have lunch or dinner at one of Coronado's popular restaurants. And they offer a long list of resorts, from yoga on the beach to water sports.
It always depends on the season, but you'll usually pay significantly less here than at the Hotel del Coronado, which is important to keep in mind for people who prefer larger resorts. Part of the reason is because of the more remote location, but
